Estimate how much beer, wine, and liquor to buy from guest count, party length, and drink mix

Frequently Asked Questions

How many drinks should I plan per guest?

A common planning rule is about 2 drinks for the first hour and 1 per hour after, so total drinks ≈ guests × (1 + hours). For 20 guests over 4 hours that is roughly 20 × 5 = 100 drinks. Please plan for guests to drink responsibly.

How many bottles of wine do I need?

A 750 ml bottle pours about 5 standard 5 oz glasses. For 50 wine servings you need 50 ÷ 5 = 10 bottles, rounded up to be safe.

How much beer in cans or bottles?

Plan one 12 oz beer per beer-drinker per hour as a starting point, then adjust for the crowd. A case holds 24, so 100 beers is about 4–5 cases.

How can a host encourage responsible drinking?

Always offer water and non-alcoholic options, serve food, and arrange rides or designated drivers. Stop serving anyone showing signs of impairment, and never let a guest drive after drinking.
