How many events can I track?

Start with the default three and use Add Event for as many as you need. Remove any row with the Remove button.

What happens to past dates?

They are filtered out automatically so the sorted list only shows events still in the future.

Are the day counts whole numbers?

Yes. Both today and each target date are snapped to midnight before the difference is computed, so you always get clean calendar-day counts with no partial-day fractions.

Does the list auto-update as time passes?

No. Click Calculate again to refresh all the counts with the current date.

How This Calculator Works

Instead of checking one date at a time, this tool lets you track several upcoming events together - a trip, a deadline, a birthday, a launch - and lines them up soonest-first. Add as many events as you need by pressing "Add Event," give each a label and a target date, and click Calculate. Past dates and blank rows are skipped automatically, so the list always shows only what is still ahead.

Each event is converted to whole days from today (today and each target date are both snapped to midnight for clean calendar-day counts). The events are then sorted from closest to farthest, so the most urgent item always appears at the top alongside its day count and approximate week count.

Soonest-First Sorting

The ordering is the core feature: it answers "what should I be preparing for first?" without requiring mental arithmetic across different months. An event 14 days out rises above one 60 days out no matter what order you typed them in. Seeing them side by side converts scattered "someday" dates into a single prioritized queue, making it obvious which item deserves attention now.

Planning With Lead Time

Most things that matter require runway: gifts shipped, flights booked, studying paced, deposits transferred. By showing both days and weeks away, the dashboard makes lead time visible. Three weeks reads differently from nineteen days even though they are nearly the same span; the weeks column helps you think in planning units rather than raw numbers. A wedding 84 days out is clearly twelve weeks to book the caterer.

Best Practices

Label each event clearly so the sorted list is readable at a glance.

Add a few buffer events like "last day to book flights" or "deadline for gifts" that sit a few days before the real event.

Recalculate each time you return so the day counts stay current.

Remove events once they are past to keep the list focused on what is coming.
