Pesticide Dilution Calculator

Calculate concentrate per tank from a label rate (per gallon or per 1,000 sq ft), tank size, and area to treat.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my label rate is per gallon or per area?

Read the "Directions for Use" or "Mixing" section of the label carefully. Per-gallon rates say "per gallon of water" or "per gallon of finished spray." Per-area rates say "per 1,000 sq ft," "per acre," or "per 100 gallons of water per acre." If both appear, the label is using a spray-volume prescription and you need to match your sprayer output to the labeled spray volume per area.

Can I double the rate if the first application did not seem to work?

Never. Exceeding the label rate is illegal and accelerates pesticide resistance. If the product failed, the more likely causes are incorrect timing, wrong product for the pest, poor coverage, or resistance already present. Re-read the label for application timing requirements and consider switching active ingredients.

What do I do with leftover diluted spray?

Apply it to the same labeled site at the label rate if you have untreated area remaining, or take it to a household hazardous waste collection event. Do not pour it down a drain, into a storm drain, or onto bare soil away from the treatment site. The best practice is to mix only as much as you need for one job.

Is this calculator appropriate for restricted-use pesticides?

This tool performs the math only - it does not verify applicator licensing requirements. Restricted-use pesticides (RUPs) require a certified pesticide applicator license in most states. If the product label says "Restricted Use Pesticide," verify your state's licensing requirements before purchasing or applying.
