Frequently Asked Questions

What concentration makes a perfume last all day?

Eau de Parfum (15-20%) typically lasts 4-8 hours on skin. Parfum (20-40%) can last 8-12+ hours. Longevity also depends on the fragrance's base notes, your skin chemistry, and where you apply - pulse points (wrists, neck, inner elbow) and moisturised skin hold fragrance better.

Can I use any oil as a carrier?

Technically yes, but some oils have their own strong scent (olive oil, coconut oil in solid form) that will alter the fragrance. Fractionated coconut oil and jojoba are the most neutral and stable choices. Avoid water unless you are making a body mist and have used an emulsifier, as oil and water do not mix.

How much fragrance oil do I need for 100 ml?

At 10% concentration: 10 ml fragrance + 90 ml carrier. At 20%: 20 ml fragrance + 80 ml carrier. At 5%: 5 ml fragrance + 95 ml carrier. The calculator handles this math for any percentage and volume.

What is the difference between fragrance oil and essential oil?

Essential oils are steam-distilled or cold-pressed from plants and contain only natural aromatic compounds. Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds that can mimic natural scents or create entirely novel ones. Either can be used in perfumery; check IFRA guidelines for safe skin-use concentrations.
