Frequently Asked Questions

How much wrapping paper does a roll cover?

A standard roll (2.5 ft wide, 30 ft long) has about 75 sq ft of paper. At about 4-6 sq ft per average-sized box, that is 12-18 boxes per roll. Larger boxes (shirt box size) use 8-10 sq ft each, reducing yield to 7-9 boxes per roll.

How do I wrap a round or irregular gift?

For round gifts, use tissue paper in a gift bag rather than flat wrapping paper. For oddly shaped items, a gift bag with tissue paper is almost always easier than trying to wrap. If you prefer paper, use a large sheet and gather it over the top with ribbon, cinching into a flower shape.

What is the minimum overlap I need?

At least 2-3 cm (about 1 inch) on all sides ensures secure folding without a visible gap. For a cleaner look, use 4-5 cm overlap so you have enough material to fold a neat edge rather than having the paper just barely meet.

Can wrapping paper be recycled?

Plain kraft or matte paper can usually be recycled if tape is removed. Glossy, metallic, foil, and glitter papers cannot be recycled - they contaminate the paper recycling stream. If you scrunch the paper and it stays scrunched, it is probably recyclable. Use the crumple test as a quick guide.
