Frequently Asked Questions
What growth standards does the tool use?
WHO growth standards for 0–24 months (breastfed-infant reference, recommended by the CDC) and CDC growth charts for 2–20 years. You can plot weight-for-age, length/height-for-age, and head-circumference-for-age by sex.
What does a percentile actually mean?
A 60th-percentile weight means your baby weighs more than 60% of same-age, same-sex peers in the reference population. Anywhere from the 3rd to 97th percentile is statistically normal - the trend over time matters more than a single value.
Should I worry about a low or high percentile?
A single point is rarely the issue; a sudden drop or jump across two or more major percentile lines (e.g. 50th → 10th) is what pediatricians watch. Discuss any concerns at well-child visits - this tool is informational, not a diagnosis.
How accurate are home measurements?
Length is notoriously hard to measure at home and can vary by 1–2 cm. Weight on a baby scale is more reliable. For tracking, use the same scale, same time of day, and ideally a pediatric office measurement for the official record.
